It’s standard for prison sentences of pimps and human traffickers to be in the decades instead of the single digit years.
A Bremerton (west of Seattle) pimp was sentenced to 50 years in prison Thursday. The sentence was longer than the standard because of the deliberate cruelty, manipulation and torture he used during five months of prostituting his victim, according to the Kitsap County Prosecutor’s Office.
Anthony Parker, 33, was found guilty of 11 counts related to sex trafficking Nov. 26 and was sentenced to 601 months in prison Thursday in Kitsap County Superior Court. He will also have to register as a sex offender upon his release.
“This sentence is long, but it is fair given the harm done by Mr. Parker to the victim and our community,” Kitsap County Prosecuting Attorney Russell Hauge said in a press release. “Parker has earned his time in prison , and Kitsap County is a better place because he is locked up.”
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, Parker and a female accomplice recruited the 23-year-old victim by bailing her out of Kitsap County Jail before advertising her as a prostitute online.
At the height of the victim’s five-month ordeal, she was being forced to prostitute herself up to 10 times a day, seven days a week.
